NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team will take on eight NCAA Tournament squads from a year ago, as the Blue Hens released their 2018 schedule Tuesday.

The Hens, who went 9-8 overall and 4-2 in the Colonial Athletic Association last season, kick off the year on Feb. 17 with an away game against Penn, a ranked opponent and NCAA Tournament competitor last season. Delaware will follow up with its home opener versus La Salle on Feb. 21. The Blue Hens travel to Rutgers on Feb. 24, and they return home to play Monmouth on Feb. 28.

Delaware faces Georgetown in Washington D.C. on March 3 before continuing road competition at Canisius on March 9. The Blue Hens follow up these away games by taking on one of their toughest opponents, Stony Brook, at home on March 13. Stony Brook ranked as high as No. 4 and advanced to the semi-finals in last season’s NCAA tournament.
Delaware hits the road to take on ACC opponent Virginia Tech on March 18 and Bryant on March 25 before returning to Newark to host San Diego State on March 27 and Princeton on March 31.

UD opens its conference schedule on April 6 when the Blue Hens travel to James Madison and continues with road trips to Towson (April 8) and Hofstra (April 13). The Hens then welcome Elon (April 20), William & Mary (April 22) and Drexel (April 27) to Delaware Stadium to close out the regular season.
The defending CAA champion Dukes will host the CAA Tournament May 4-6 in Harrisonburg, Va.
