SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The University of Delaware earned its second road victory of the season Wednesday night, defeating Seton Hall University 2-0.

The Blue Hens (3-1-1) received a dominant performance from goalie Todd Morton, who recorded six saves en route to his third clean-sheet of the season.

After an even first 30 minutes of play, Delaware struck first on Wednesday when Thibault Philippe buried a penalty kick in the 35th minute. Delaware was awarded the penalty kick when Chad Poarch was dragged down inside the Seton Hall (3-3-1) 18-yard box.

UD nursed the slim 1-0 lead until the 61st minute when Fede Prieto ripped a perfect shot from 25-yards out that bounced off the crossbar and into the net. The goal gave Delaware a more comfortable 2-0 lead.

Head Coach Ian Hennessy:
“Victories against BIG EAST members are always important. Tonight's performance was a blend of good leadership and contributions from a young core who are getting better each game. The night was capped by a fantastic goal from Fede, who was excellent in the second half. This weekend will be our toughest test. Sunday, we welcome in one of the nation’s best teams to Newark. UNCW has already beaten UNC, which was ranked No. 3 in the nation, and played Virginia to overtime before losing in extra-time. We hope we can use the good home crowd to help us in an important CAA matchup.”
