PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Blue Hens continue to soar this season as Delaware captured the 4-0 triumph over La Salle Friday afternoon.

The win marked career victory number 300 for Hens head coach Pablo Montana, who spent 14 seasons as the women’s tennis head coach at California (Pa.) before taking charge at Delaware in December 2016.

Additionally, the Blue Hens (15-7) have reached their most wins since the 1994-95 campaign in which Delaware went 15-3 overall.

UD opened the afternoon by picking up wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles action.

Junior co-captain Blaise Casselbury (Lititz, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School) gave the Hens the 2-0 advantage with his No. 5 singles victory of 6-0, 6-2 over Andrija Bozovic.

Freshman Justice Jones (Laurel, Md./JTCC School) followed with a 6-3, 6-2 decision in No. 4 singles against Tomas Christian.

Senior Colin Wong (Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia/SMK Kota Kemuning) wrapped play with his fourth straight victory, a 6-2, 6-2 decision versus Connor Merrill in the second spot.

POST-MATCH QUOTES
Head Coach Pablo Montana
“Nathan and Laurenz got us off to a quick boost before Blaise and Colin clinched the doubles point for us in a tiebreaker for the second time this year, which was huge for us going into singles. This was a good test for us as it was very windy outside, but we were able to play through it and we were able to hit our shots.  We will use this confidence as we get ready to take on Mount St. Mary’s tomorrow.”
