  • RETURNING TO HIS ALMA MATER: Blue Hens head coach Ian Hennessy returns to his alma mater Wednesday night. Hennessy was an All-American for the Pirates, earning Big East Most Outstanding Player twice (1986, 87). The coach still ranks among the Seton Hall leaders in points (second), goals (second) and assists (four). Hennessy was inducted into the Seton Hall Hall of Fame back in 2006.
  • UNBEATEN NO MORE: The Blue Hens suffered a tough 2-1 double overtime setback to Villanova last time out. Delaware fell behind 1-0 early in the match, but a Fede Prieto goal tied the score late in the first half. Neither team was able to tally a goal until deep into double overtime when Villanova was awarded a penalty kick. The Wildcats drilled the PK just past Todd Morton, earning the victory. The loss was Delaware’s first of the season.
  • CAA PLAY UP NEXT: Wednesday’s match at Seton Hall will be the final non-conference match before Delaware faces a conference foe. Sunday, Delaware will kick off four straight games against Colonial Athletic Association foes, as No. 15 UNCW comes to Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium this Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.

• Delaware and Seton Hall are meeting for the seventh consecutive season and the seventh time in program history.
The Blue Hens are 6-3-1 all-time against the Pirates and have won the last three matchups.
In last season’s 3-1 victory, Delaware received a goal from Carlos Perales, while Morton stopped five shots to earn the victory.
