Prettyman Earns Colonial Athletic Association Runner of the Week Honors
NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware standout cross country runner Lindsay Prettyman wasted little time in getting the 2013 season off to a good start.
The senior from Newark, Del. (St. Mark’s High School), who led the Blue Hens to four victories at the season-opening Mt. St. Mary’s 5k Duals this past weekend, has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week.
The Blue Hens, who were competing in their first dual competition in cross country since the 1997 season, knocked off host Mt. St. Mary’s, American, George Washington, and Maryland and falling on to Navy, which won all five of its competitions.
As she has for the past three seasons, senior Prettyman led the Blue Hens once again as she covered the five-kilometer course in a time of 18:30.62. She has now led the team in 12 straight meets and in 15 of the last 16 since the 2011 campaign.
A CoSIDA Academic All-American candidate, Prettyman earned CAA Runner of the Week honors for the second time in her career after also being honored last September with the honor.
The Blue Hens will now take a week off and continue action Sept. 14 when they host some of the top men’s and women’s teams in the region at the annual Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.
