HEN SCRATCHINGS

·      Freshman Esmée Peet (Zeewolde, The Netherlands) was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Sept. 10 after scoring the first two goals of her career in Delaware’s 4-2 win over Central Michigan last Friday.

·      Peet has started all four games for the Blue Hens this season and has added an assist for five points

·      Dating to last season, sophomore Michaela Patzner (Rosenheim, Germany) has scored at least one point in the last six games.  She went without a goal on Sunday, snapping a career-best four-game streak.

·      Patzner currently leads the team with four goals and two assists for 10 points.

·      Patzner has 11 career goals, which is good for third on the team behind junior Kelsey McKee’s (Gap, Pa.) 20 while senior Kasey Prettyman (Newark, Del.) has 14.

·      Senior Heather Hartman (Fredericksburg, Va.) leads the Hens with 12 career assists, good for 20th in UD history.

·      Senior Sarah Scher (Pocomoke City, Md.) has started nine consecutive games for the Blue Hens (dating to last year) and has collected 17 total saves while allowing just seven goals in 283:05 minutes of action this season.

·      UD is 76-60 (.559) all-time at Rullo Stadium.

SERIES INFORMATION

·      Delaware leads Temple in the all-time series by a mark of 18-11-1.  The Blue Hens have won the last four of five contests against the Owls, including a 4-3 victory in Philadelphia last year.

·      Michigan State holds a 5-1 advantage over Delaware all-time.  The Spartans have won three straight, including a NCAA First Round 7-0 victory in 2009.  The last time the Hens won a game over MSU came in 2006 at the Duke Champions Tournament.

ABOUT #11 TEMPLE

The 11th-ranked Owls received their first NFHCA national ranking this past week for the first time in 12 years after starting the season 3-1.  The ranking was the highest standing of any team not ranked in the previous poll.  Last Friday, Temple upset then #6 Penn State on the road in a 3-0 shutout.  The only blemish on the Owls’ record is a loss to #2 Maryland, winners of the NCAA championship in two of the past three seasons.  Junior Amber Youtz and senior Molly Doyle lead the team with four goals and two assists each.  Junior Lizzy Millen is the team’s primary goalie, collecting 35 saves while allowing eight goals in four games this season.

ABOUT MICHIGAN STATE

Michigan State is currently 2-3 on the season with wins coming against Pacific and Monmouth.  The Spartans take on #3 Princeton Friday evening in New Jersey.  Junior Allie Ahern has started all five games for MSU this year and leads the team with four goals for eight points.  Senior Molly Cassidy and juniors Abby Barker and Becky Stiles were named to the 2013 Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch list.   Cassidy anchors the Spartan defense from the goalie position and has recorded 16 saves and 11 goals allowed in five starts.
