WILMINGTON, Del. – The University of Delaware rowing team opened up the 2013 season on Sunday, Oct. 6 with the Head of the Christina Regatta. The Regatta took place on the Christina River and served as an intrasquad exhibition race.

The Head of the Christina Regatta takes place annually and is hel by the Wilmington Youth Rowing Association (WYRA).

Three Delaware Crews raced in the Collegiate Women's 8+. Due to timing issues, final results were not recorded. The members of each Delaware crew are listed below.

UD "A" - Lily Guttenberg, Hannah Scholes, Calla Cissel, Bethany Porter, Katarina Francis, Denise Cirelli, Corey Holloway, Meredith Murphy and coxswain- Hayley Diverio.

UD "B" - Jen Majcher, Carly Alexander, Annie Waskover, Kate Flood, Angela Quinn, Jenny Kohler, Catherine Manner, Shannon Taylor and coxswain - Jamie Nocie.

UD "C" - Jennifer Boon, Meghan Gerber, Shannon Bell, Megan Kirby, Sam Noel, Danielle Lawler, Kathleen Garrity, Alex Cruz, and coxwain - Sarah Tenenbaum.

"It was awesome representing UD on our home water, we had perfect conditions and there was a good crowd watching the action along Riverfront," said Delaware head coach Kevin Gruber. "It's been a few years since the Delaware Women last competed in the Head of the Christina, we were happy to be back in it and it was great being out there with the rest of the Wilmington rowing community."

The Blue Hens will continue their exhibition season on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they compete in the Navy Day Regatta. The Navy Day Regatta is held on the Schuykill River in Philadelphia, Pa.
