CHERRY HILL, N.J.  --  The University of Delaware women's rowing team closed out competition at the annual Knecht Cup Sunday afternoon with the Blue Hens' Second Varsity Eights team posting a fifth place finish in the Third Final on the Cooper River.

Delaware's crew of coxswain Sarah Tenenbaum, Shannon Taylor, Corey Holloway, Kate Flood, Kristen Van Iderstine, Meredith Murphy, Angela Quinn, Carly Alexander, and Sam Noel rowed to a time of 7:12.37 to post the fifth place finish in the race and an overall 17th place showing.

UMass won the Third Final in a time of 7:06.10 followed by Buffalo, SMU, Temple, Delaware, and Connecticut. Boston College was the overall winner as the Eagles captured the Grand Final with a time of 6:48.94, outdistancing Bucknell, Fordham, Drexel, Tulsa, and Wisconsin. Old Dominion captured the Petite Final to place seventh overall.

The Second Varsity Eights was the only Delaware crew to compete on Sunday as the group advanced thanks to a fifth place finish in its first heat and a sixth place showing in the semifinals on Saturday.

Delaware will continue action Apr. 26 when the Blue Hens compete against host Boston University, Connecticut, and host Bucknell in a quad-meet at Pinchot Lake at Lewisberry, Pa.
