PHILADELPHIA  --  The University of Delaware women’s rowing squad will once again be a part one of the world’s most prestigious rowing events this weekend when the Blue Hens compete at the 76th annual Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River.

The Blue Hens, led by head coach Kevin Gruber, will compete in four races on Friday with hopes of advancing to further rounds on Saturday. Racing begins at 7 a.m. both days.

Delaware will be competing in heats in the Women’s Varsity Fours, Women’s Varsity Eights, Women’s Novice Eights, and Women’s Second Varsity Eights races on Friday.

The Women’s Varsity Fours crew will open up action for the Blue Hens at 8:36 a.m. on Friday with Delaware competing in its heat against teams from Lehigh, Jacksonville, Drake, Massachusetts and Lafayette. Delaware’s team consists of coxswain Hayley Diverio, Megan Kirby, Kathleen Garrity, Jenn Boone, and Danielle Weader.

The Women’s Varsity Eights boat will be competing in its heat at 10:53 a.m. and will take on teams from Chicago, Bucknell, Fordham, and Middlebury. Delaware’s team consists of coxswain Jamie Noce, Denise Cirelli, Kat Francis, Jenny Kohler, Catherine Manner, Annie Waskover, Calla Cissel, Hannah Scholes, and Lily Guttentag.

After a five-hour break, Delaware teams will return to action with the Women’s Novice Eights team taking on Geneseo, Saint Joseph’s, and Army at 4:18 p.m. Delaware’s team consists of coxswain Tatiana Gomez, Laura Peterson, Olivia Brady, Kristina Harmon, Kristen Reisor, Meghan Gerber, Savanah Wolfson, Lian Cancryn, and Marisa Gilliatt.

Delaware will conclude the day with the Women’s Second Varsity Eights crew competing at 5:02 p.m. The Hens will compete against Duquesne, Fordham, Drexel, Purdue, and Lehigh in that heat. Delaware’s team includes coxswain Sarah Tenenbaum, Shannon Taylor, Corey Holloway, Kate Flood, Kristen Van Iderstine, Carly Alexander, Angela Quinn, Meredith Murphy, Sam Noel.

Delaware’s top finisher at the regatta last year was the Varsity Eights crew, which placed 17th overall.
