SOUTHPORT, N.C. -- The University of Delaware women’s golf team will conclude its inaugural season this weekend when the Blue Hens compete in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships held at The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation.

The league’s 11 teams will compete on the par 72, 6,066-yard Reserve Club course, with the winning team earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The 55 players will play one round on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, opening with split tees each day. Play begins at 9 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday, while Sunday’s action will start at 8 a.m.

James Madison, Georgia State and UNCW are the only CAA schools to win the league title, while the Seahawks claimed the 2011 crown.

The Blue Hens are led by freshman Andrea Slane who ranks second on the team with a 79.77 stroke average, has been UD’s top finisher during three tournaments on the year, and has posted four top-10 finishes on the season.

Freshman Annie Bowlsby is third on the squad with an 80.96 average round, while junior Frida Nilsson ranks fourth by averaging 81.60 shots per round. Freshman Amanda Terzian has also been Delaware’s top finisher during three tournaments on the year while averaging 82.17 shots per round, while classmate Baralee Theinthong has posted an 82.79 average round.

As a team, the Blue Hens have placed among the top 10 in seven of nine tournaments during the year, including three top-five finishes.
