SOUTHPORT, N.C. -- Blue Hen freshman Andrea Slane (at right) sits in sixth place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware women’s golf team is fourth out of 12 squads following the first day of The Spider at St. James Invitational.
The Blue Hens opened with a 330 team score during the first round of the day before posting a 329 during the second, finishing the day with a two-round score of 659. Boston College leads the team standings at 640, followed by Charleston Southern at 646, UNC Pembroke at 658, and Delaware.
Slane opened the tournament with a seven over par 79 on the par 72, 6,175-yard Reserve Course at St. James Plantation Golf Course, and she followed with an 80 to finish the day with a 15 over par score of 79-80-159. Junior Frida Nilsson is tied for 19th with a 21 over par 84-81-165, while freshman Annie Bowlsby is tied for 23rd at 83-83-166, 22 over par.
Freshman Baralee Theinthong is tied for 51st place with a 25 over par 84-85-169, while classmate Amanda Terzian is tied for 57th place with a 41 over par 99-86-185.
Katia Joo of Boston College leads the individual standings with a 10 over par 76-78-154, while Jennifer Dilger of Winthrop is one shot behind at 78-77-155.
The tournament concludes Sunday with a single round beginning at 8:30 a.m.
