Blue Hens, Klotz Tied For Third Place After First Day of Delaware Invitational
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- The Blue Hen women’s golf team fired rounds of 308 and 317 on Saturday to end the first round of the Delaware Invitational in a tie for third place.
Harvard leads the 10-team field with a 613 score, Penn sits in second place at 623, and the Blue Hens and Rutgers are tied for third with 625 scores.
Delaware freshman Ariane Klotz carded an 11 over par 72-81-153 on the par 71, 6,008-yard course at Rehoboth Beach Country Club, ending the day tied for third place in the individual standings. Anna Zhou of Harvard holds a four-shot lead with a five over par 75-72-147, her teammate Anne Cheng is second at 79-72-131, and Klotz and Ashleigh Greenham of Rutgers are each six shots back.
Blue Hen senior Vitoria Teixeira is tied for sixth place with a 13 over par 78-77-155, while sophomore Ashley Dingman fired a 14 over par 78-78-156 to end the day tied for 12th place. Grace Chua is tied for 26th place with a 19 over par 80-81-161, while Valentina Mueller carded a 22 over par 80-84-164 to finish Saturday’s action tied for 33rd place.
Five Blue Hens are competing as individuals at the tournament, led by Aashaka Desai who is tied for 31st place with a 21 over par 84-79-163. Josefina Fernandez-Davila, who carded an 84-83-167, and Isabella Rimton, who fired an 82-85-167, are each tied for 40th place at 25 over par.
Kylie Greulich, who shot a 33 over par 88-87-175, and Marie Bogenez, who recorded a 33 over par 87-88-175, are both tied for 49th place.
The final round of the tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.
