Blue Hens Look to Bounce Back vs. League Newcomer; Host Albany for Homecoming

NEWARK, Del.  -- Two teams looking to rebound from decisive setbacks on the road in Colonial Athletic Association action a week ago will square off this Saturday, Oct. 12, when the University of Delaware (4-2, 1-1 CAA) hosts league newcomer Albany (1-5, 0-2) at Delaware Stadium at 12 noon.

The game will be televised live as part of the CAA Television Network on Comcast SportsNet Regional.

Delaware will be hosting its annual Homecoming festivities with a host of events scheduled throughout the weekend. The Blue Hens will also welcome back the 1963 football team that is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its undefeated wire service Small College National Champions. The team will be honored in a pre-game reception and at halftime of the game.

Delaware will look to get back into the win column after suffering a 62-28 setback to then #23 Maine last Saturday in Orono, Me. The Black Bears scored 27 points in the first quarter and never looked back in downing the Hens for the third straight time. Delaware had a two-game win streak snapped.

Albany, a first-year member of the league after competing as a member of the Northeast Conference, brings a record of 1-5 into this week’s game and will looking to snap a four-game losing streak and capture its first-ever CAA win. The Great Danes will be playing their third straight road game.

After losing consecutive games to Rhode Island and Central Connecticut by a combined nine points, Albany has struggled over the last two weeks, falling to Old Dominion 66-10 on Sept. 21 and 40-13 at James Madison last week.

The Delaware-Albany series is all tied at 1-1 with Albany winning 17-10 in 2006 and Delaware capturing a 38-7 victory in 2008.
