NEWARK, Del. -- University of Delaware football head coach Dave Brock (at right) spent his first spring practice day as the Blue Hens’ new mentor pleased with what he saw.

Brock, who was named head coach in mid-January, took his team through a two-hour workout on the Delaware Football Practice Fields and deemed the first day a success.

“We had a great first impression,” said Brock. “It was great to be out here in the nice weather and we loved the effort and the enthusiasm that we saw from the team. We have a long way to go in terms of execution, but that will come. They gave us everything we wanted.”

Delaware will continue spring drills tomorrow, Saturday, Apr. 6, beginning at 8:50 a.m. All spring practices are free and open to the public.

The squad will also practice the following dates, each beginning at 4 p.m. unless noted: April 9, 11, 13 (tba), 16, 18, 20 (2 p.m. scrimmage at Milford, Del.), 23, 25, 27 (tba), 30, May 2, 3 (tba), and 4 (Blue-White Spring Game at 1 p.m.).
