NEWARK, Del.  --  Nearly 500 high school band members from throughout the region will be on hand at Delaware Stadium Saturday afternoon as the University of Delaware’s annual Band Day takes place as part of the Delaware vs. Wagner football game at 6 p.m.

The event, sponsored by Louviers Federal Credit Union, annually attracts some of the top high school bands in the region. The bands will join the University of Delaware Marching Band for performances at halftime and during post-game. The bands will perform Dynamite by Taio Cruz and Shout It Out Loud by Kiss.

Bands scheduled to perform are Caravel Academy, Sussex Central High School, Skyline Middle School, William Penn High School, Newark High School, Christiana High School, North East (Md.) High School, Woodbridge High School, Milford High School, Cape Henlopen High School, Palisades (Pa.) High School, Aberdeen (Md.) High School, and Elkton (Md.) High School. Seven of the band directors who will be on hand are former members of the UD Marching Band or UD Alumni.

For the fourth year, the University of Delaware and Louviers Federal Credit Union will be working together to give local high school students the opportunity to play along with a top-ranked University band in front of thousands of fans. Louviers will again be providing the high school students with a complimentary yellow t-shirt.

Louviers FCU will see many familiar faces as Newark High School students take the field. Louviers started the first student-run, in-school branch in the state at Newark High School in 2009.

“Louviers Federal Credit Union places great importance on helping Delaware youth make the tough transition from high school to college,” said James Everhart, Jr., President/CEO of Louviers. “Sponsoring this event for the fourth year is just one of the ways we can continue to help students and give back to our community.”

Since 1968, the not-for-profit credit union has grown to over 11,000 members and more than $210 million assets. LFCU’s main branch is conveniently located in walking distance of UofD campus at 185 South Main Street. More information about Louviers Federal Credit Union is available at www.louviers.com.
