Twelve Delaware Football Student-Athletes Earn Spots on Colonial Athletic Association Academic All-Conference Team
RICHMOND, Va. -- Twelve members of the 2013 University of Delaware football squad have been named to the Colonial Athletic Association Academic All-Conference Team, the league announced today.
To be eligible for the CAA Football Academic All-Conference Team, a player must be a starter or important reserve and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 4.00 scale) for his entire academic career. Transfers and first-year freshmen are eligible.
“We are proud to have so many of our student-athletes honored by the CAA for their academic achievements,” said Delaware head coach Dave Brock. “These guys represent the true meaning of a student-athlete. We look forward to even greater success in the future.”
Delaware players named to the team were sophomore linebacker Derek Battle (Charlotte, N.C./Providence/Energy and Environment Policy major); junior defensive back Craig Brodsky (Orange Park, Fla./Fleming Island/Health Behavior Science); sophomore wide receiver Chris Cordivari (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan/Management Information Systems); redshirt freshman punter Eric Enderson (Hampton, Va./Phoebus/Criminal Justice); sophomore defensive back Eric Farkas (Heathrow, Fla./Seminole/Marketing); and sophomore offensive lineman Justin Glenn (Newark, Del./A.I. duPont/Health & Physical Education).
Also named were junior quarterback Trent Hurley (Connellsville, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic/Biology); sophomore offensive lineman Christian Marchena (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan/Electrical Engineering); senior wide receiver Mike Milburn (Bowie, Md./DeMatha/Communications); redshirt freshman running back Jalen Randolph (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley/Health Behavior Science); freshman defensive back Ryan Torzsa (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson/Business); and junior defensive lineman Laith Wallschleger (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes/Finance).
CAA Football honored 137 student-athletes on the 2013 Academic All-Conference team. New Hampshire once again led all league schools with 21 players on this year’s list. Delaware’s 12 players ranked sixth among conference schools.
In addition to the Academic All-Conference team, the CAA also honored University of Maine quarterback Marcus Wasilewski as the 2013 CAA Football Student-Athlete of the Year.
