RICHMOND, Va. -- For the second time in three weeks, Jaime Martinez of the University of Delaware men's soccer team was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week. For the third straight week, a Delaware student-athlete has now earned a weekly conference honor.

Martinez earns Rookie of the Week honors after leading Delaware to a 2-1 road victory at CAA opponent James Madison last Wednesday. The freshman scored one goal and tallied the only helper on Roberto Giménez's game-winning goal. The multi-point performance marked the third of Martinez's rookie campaign.

The midfielder ranks second on the team in points (12) and third in goals (4). Martinez leads Delaware with four assists.

"It is a nice honor for Jaime that he has been twice voted Rookie of the Week," said Blue He head coach Ian Hennessy. "He continues to grow as a player in this short NCAA season, and these awards can only help his confidence that he is on the right track. I am very happy for him.”

After defeating the Dukes on Wednesday, Martinez and the Blue Hens went on to beat College of Charleston, 1-0 on Sunday. Delaware currently owns a seven game win-streak and remains unbeaten at Delaware Mini-Stadium. The Blue Hens are now 9-1 overall this season and are a perfect 2-0 on CAA action.

Delaware returns to the pitch Wednesday, Oct. 16 when the Blue Hens travel to Boston, Mass. to take on defending CAA Champion Northeastern. Game time is schedule for 6 p.m.
