University of Delaware Women Capture Six Titles at Lehigh's John Covert Indoor Track Classic
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Toresha Foster and Lindsay Prettyman each won two events and the University of Delaware women captured six first place finishes overall to cap an outstanding showing at the John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University Saturday at Rauch Field House.
Foster captured the 200 meters (25.73), was part of the 4 x 400 meter relay team (4:00.99), and placed second in the 400 meters (58.92) and Prettyman continued her outstanding winter season by winning the mile run (5:01.45) and teaming to capture the 4 x 800 meter relay (9:42.03).
Joining Foster in the 4 x 400 meter relay were Breanna Nicholson, Chelsi Campbell, and Kelley Donovan. Prettyman teamed with Betsy Erlanger, Alexandra Carroll, and Lindsay Guptill to capture the 4 x 800 meter relay.
Also capturing individual titles for the Blue Hens were Latoya James in the 60 meter hurdles (8.82) and Alana Pantale (at left) in the shot put (42-2 1/4). James also finished third in the long jump (17-8 1/4) while Pantale added a third place showing in the weight throw (50-6 1/4).
The Blue Hens also posted eight second place finishes led by Paige Morris in the long jump (17-11), Paige Thomson-Charles in the 200 meters (26.08), Katrina Steenkamer in the mile (5:03.31), Carroll in the 500 meters (1:18.99), Emily Gispert in the 800 meters (2:21.82), and Monica Hagenauer in both the shot put (42-0 3/4) and weight throw (51-2 3/4).
Delaware will continue action next weekend when the Blue Hens take part in the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City on Feb. 7-8.
