NEW YORK -- Lindsay Prettyman broke her own record in the 3,000 meters, Betsy Erlanger established a school freshman record in the 1,000 meters, Michelle Lambert posted the third best mile time in school history, and Monica Hagenauer collected two top six finishes with personal bests in the shot put and weight throw events to lead the University of Delaware women’s indoor track & field team at the Lafayette/Rider Winter Games Friday at the New York City Armory.

Prettyman finished second in the 3,000 meters as she broke her own school record with a time of 9:32.76, shaving nearly 10 seconds off her previous mark; Erlanger was fourth in the 1,000 meters as her time of 2:55.87 broke Prettyman’s rookie record set in 2011; Lambert was third in the mile with a clocking of 4:56.95; and Hagenauer was fifth in the shot put (40-11 1/4) and sixth in the weight throw (52-9 3/4).

Prettyman, Erlanger, Lambert, and Hagenauer (weight throw) all qualified for the ECAC Championships March 8-9 at Boston University.

“I was very pleased with the team's effort today,” said Delaware head coach Wendy McFarlane. “Especially Prettyman's elite performance and school record in the 3,000 meters, Michele Lambert's eight-second personal best in the mile, freshman Betsy Erlanger's personal best and freshman record in the 1,000 meters, and Monica Hagenauer in the weight throw. Everyone really stepped up in their performances this week.”

In all, Delaware athletes recorded 16 top 10 finishes during the day.

Also for the Hens, Kelsey Evancho was third in the high jump (5-3); Megan Crowley was sixth in the high jump (5-1); Alana Pantale was sixth in the shot put (40-3 1/2); Toresha Foster was eighth in the 200 meters (57.11); Haley Gorenflo was eighth in the pole vault (10-10); Aretah Ettarh was eighth in the shot put (39-11 1/2); Courtney Sniscak was ninth in the weight throw (47-9 1/4); Alexandra Carroll was ninth in the 500 meters (1:17.98); Nicole Filion, Alexis Gligor, and Courtney Markow all tied for ninth in the pole vault (10-10); and Emily Gispert was 10th in the mile (5:03.14).

Delaware will return to action next Sunday, Feb. 23, when the Blue Hens compete at the Princeton Invitationalz.
