Delaware Menís Golfers Tied For Eighth Place Following First Day of George Mason Patriot Collegiate

LORTON, Va. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team carded rounds of 304 and 302 on Saturday as the Blue Hens ended the day tied for eighth place out of 11 teams at the George Mason Patriot Collegiate.

Marshall leads the team standings with a two-round score of 571, while Columbia sits in second place with a 582 score. Christopher Newport is third at 583, while Penn and Hofstra are tied for fourth place with 589 scores. The host Patriots are sixth at 598, La Salle sits in seventh place at 602, and the Blue Hens and Villanova are tied for eighth at 606.

Blue Hen sophomore Kyle Martin and junior Niño Rosal each carded rounds of 75 and 74 on the par 71, 6,857-yard Laurel Hills Golf Course, ending the day tied for 24th place in the individual standings at seven over par 75-74-149. Junior Fraser Graham, who fired an 11 over par 76-77-153 on Saturday, will enter Sunday’s final round tied for 40th place.

Freshman Marc Oliveri carded a 13 over par 78-77-155 to end the day tied for 45th place, while senior Dan Costenbader is tied for 51st after he recorded a 15 over par 79-78-157.

Brian Anania of Marshall leads the field with a three under par 70-69-139, while David Mecca of Hofstra sits one shot back with a two under par 70-70-140.

The third and final round of the Patriot Collegiate begins at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start.
