PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team sits in third place out of 10 squads while sophomore Niño Rosal is tied for third in the individual standings on Saturday following the first round of the Rhody Invitational.

The Blue Hens posted a 314 team score on Saturday, behind only host Rhode Island at 310 and Sacred Heart at 313. Canisius finished the day in fourth place at 315, while Bryant is fifth with a 317 score.

Rosal (at right) fired a five over par 37-39-76 on the par 71, 6,830-yard Green Valley Country Club course to finish Saturday’s action tied for third place. Nathan Pereira of American International leads the field with a two over par 34-39-73, Kyle Buschmann of Bryant is second with a 35-39-74, and Rosal is one of four players three shots off the lead.

Junior Dan Costenbader carded a six over par 41-36-77 to end the day tied for seventh place while senior Ben Conroy, who recorded a 38-41-79, and sophomore Fraser Graham, who posted a 41-38-79, are each tied for 16th place at eight over par.

Freshman Braden Shattuck, coming off his win earlier in the week at the Villanova Wildcat Invitational, is tied for 35th place with an 11 over par 40-42-82, while classmate Kyle Martin is tied for 48th place following his 16 over par round of 42-45-87.

The second and final round of the Rhody Invitational will begin Sunday at 11 a.m.
