ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Blue Hen senior Ben Conroy is tied for seventh place in the individual standings while the University of Delaware men’s golf team is 10th in the team standings on Saturday following the first day of the Navy Spring Invitational.

The Blue Hens posted a 306 team score on Saturday to finish the day in 10th place out of 21 teams. Navy and Virginia are tied for the team lead with 294 scores, while Virginia Tech and Wake Forest are each tied for third place at 296.

Conroy (at right) carded a two over par 73 on the par 71, 6,611-yard Naval Academy Golf Course, his lowest round of the spring season, to end the day in a tie for seventh place. Freshman Braden Shattuck fired a six over par 77 during his opening round, finishing Saturday’s action tied for 43rd place.

Sophomore Niño Rosal and junior Dan Costenbader are each tied for 55th place with seven over par 78 scores, while freshman Kyle Martin is tied for 80th place following his 10 over par score of 81.

Mac McLaughlin of Virginia and Evan Beck of Wake Forest are tied for the individual lead as both players carded one under par 71 rounds.

The second and final round of the Navy Spring Invitational will take place on Sunday.
