PORTSMOUTH, R.I. -- Blue Hen sophomore Niño Rosal tied for fourth place in the individual standings while leading the University of Delaware men's golf squad to a second place team finish this weekend at the Rhody Invitational.

After posting a 314 team score during Saturday’s opening round, the Blue Hens recorded a 315 score on Sunday to finish second out of 10 teams at the tournament. The host Rams captured the team title with a 622 score, while the Blue Hens were seven shots behind at 629. Bryant and Sacred Heart tied for third at 636, while Fordham came in fifth with a 637 score.

Delaware’s second place finish was the Blue Hens’ highest of the year, and marked their fourth top-five finish of the season including the second in a week.

Rosal carded a 12 over par 76-78-154 during the weekend on the par 71, 6,830-yard Green Valley Country Club course to tie for fourth place, posting his highest finish of the season and his third career top-five finish.

Freshman Braden Shattuck was the other Blue Hen to finish among the top 10 individuals, as he tied for eighth place following his 16 over par 82-76-158 score. Junior Dan Costenbader fired an 18 over par 77-83-160 to tie for 18th place while sophomore Fraser Graham, playing as an individual, also tied for 18th after carding a 79-81-160.

Senior Ben Conroy recorded a 19 over par 79-81-161 to tie for 22nd place while freshman Kyle Martin carded an 87-79-166, 24 over par, to finish in a tie for 35th place.

Branden Chicorka of Rhode Island was the tournament medalist after his six over par 77-71-148, while Jason Del Rosso of Fordham and Michael Johnson of La Salle each finished five strokes back.

The Blue Hens are back in action this Friday and Saturday when Delaware competes in the Longwood Intercollegiate at the Manor Resort Golf Club in Farmville, Va.
