University of Delaware Menís Golfers Tied For 21st Place Following First Day of Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf squad carded a 310 team score on Sunday and is tied for 21st place following the first day of the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary.
Eastern Michigan and Texas Tech lead the 27-team field after both squads posted 288 team scores during Sunday’s opening round.
Blue Hen senior Dan Costenbader fired a four over par 40-34-74 on the par 70, 6,765-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort, finishing the day tied for 36th place in the individual standings. Costenbader birdied the seventh hole during his five over par front nine, and was six over before birdieing his final two holes of the day.
Sophomore Kyle Martin carded a six over par 41-35-76 which included birdies on 12 and 13 during an even par back nine, ending the day tied for 65th place. Classmate Colin McKenna is tied for 96th place after he posted a nine over par round of 41-38-79 which featured birdies on the 15th and 18th holes.
Junior Fraser Graham recorded an 11 over par 41-40-81 to finish the day tied for 116th place, while freshman Marc Oliveri carded a 14 over par 40-44-84 to tie for 131st place following Sunday’s action.
Carter Jenkins of UNC Greensboro holds a one shot lead after firing a two under par 68 on Sunday.
The tournament’s second of three rounds will be held Monday with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
