University of Delaware Athletics Announces Hiring of Jason Cichowicz as Assistant AD for Ticketing Operations
NEWARK, Del. -- Jason Cichowicz, who served the last six years at the NCAA Division I level working in athletics ticketing, has been named the University of Delaware’s assistant director of athletics for ticketing operations.
Cichowicz (pronounced “chick-o-witz”) most recently was athletics ticketing manager at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa.
“We are excited to welcome Jason to our external relations team,” said UD Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Relations Stacey Bunting. “His experience at the Division I level will be critical to the continued success of our athletics ticketing operations here at the University of Delaware.”
“I am thankful and appreciative for the opportunity to be part of the Delaware Athletics team” said Cichowicz. “There is so much tradition and history with the Blue Hens and it’s an exciting time to be joining the University. I look forward to working with (Director of Athletics) Eric Ziady, Stacey Bunting-Thompson, UD alumni, the coaching staff, and the entire Delaware community.”
He is responsible for all athletic ticketing as well as oversight and management of all University and student ticketing services. He administers all aspects of ticketing including season, single game, and special events as well as managing the day to day operations and financial planning of the ticket office.
Among his responsibilities is evaluating and improving department efficiencies, supervising and training ticket office staff, developing and monitoring policies and procedures as they pertain to ticketing, increasing the athletics ticket customer base through identification of new buyers and corporate and group sales, and developing customer service strategies.
Cichowicz earned his degree in economics with a minor in psychology at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Conn. in 2003. While at ECSU, he earned the school’s Academic Excellence Award and was a letterwinner for the school’s lacrosse team. He also has worked as a youth lacrosse coach. He went on to earn his master’s degree in management of sports industries from the University of New Haven (Conn.) in 2010.
After working seven years as a financial services associate with People’s United Bank in Westport, Conn., Cichowicz joined the college athletics ticketing ranks as a ticket office assistant at Yale University where he served from 2008 until 2011.
He moved on to Lafayette College in 2011 as ticket manager and served the Patriot League school for the last three seasons. While at Lafayette, Cichowicz oversaw all athletics department ticket operations, including season, group, and single game ticket sales and managed the box office for all home football, basketball, and special events. He also had responsibilities in game management while at Lafayette.
A native of Norwalk, Conn., Cichowicz is single and resides in Wilmington, Del.
Cichowicz replaces Trent Bartling, who served at Delaware for the last four years before taking a ticketing position with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers this summer.
