DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- University of Delaware women’s golf head coach Patty Post has been named the Northeast Section Coach of the Year, it was announced Friday by the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Teaching & Club Professional membership.

Post was one of four college coaches to win sectional awards along with Jill Trujillo of New Mexico, Janet Bolle-Carl of Cincinnati, and Emily Marron of Central Florida. Those four are eligible for the National Coach of the Year award, which will be selected by the LPGA T&CP National Awards Selection Committee during the coming weeks.

Post, the only coach in Blue Hens women’s golf history, enters her fourth season in Newark this fall. Last year she guided Delaware to an outstanding season in which the Blue Hens finished among the top five in all but one tournament. UD claimed team titles at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational, Rutgers Invitational and Delaware Invitational, and capped its year by tying for second place at the CAA Championships.

The Blue Hens’ team average round of 78.74 was the lowest in the three-year history of the program, while rising senior Amanda Terzian was the first all-conference selection in program history as she was named second team All-CAA.

Post and the Blue Hens, who return every player from last year’s squad, open their 2014 fall campaign on Sept. 8-9 when they attempt to defend their title at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational.

LPGA T&CP members are dedicated to the advancement of golf and serve throughout the golf industry as head professionals, assistant professionals, teaching professionals, directors of golf, owners of golf schools and facilities, golf administrators, college and high school coaches, and more.
