Day One Results

HAMILTON, N.Y. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team fired rounds of 285 and 294 on Saturday and leads the Colgate Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational following the first day of the two-day tournament.

The Blue Hens lead the 13-team field with a 579 two-round total, while Cornell sits in second place nine shots back with a 588 score. St. John’s resides in third place at 592, while Army West Point is fourth at 599 and Fairleigh Dickinson is fifth at 600.

UD junior Jack Gianniny, who fired a 68-74-142 on the par 72, 6,834-yard Seven Oaks Golf Course, and senior co-captain Marc Oliveri, who carded a 70-72-142, are each tied for second place in the individual standings at two under par. Nicolas Osorio of Fairleigh Dickinson leads the field after he shot a three under par 68-73-141, while Mike May of Cornell is also one shot back along with the two Blue Hens.

Junior Blaine Lafferty recorded a four over par 73-75-148 while sophomore Bobby Diforio carded a four over par 75-73-148, as both Blue Hens ended the day tied for 10th place. Junior Kieran Purcell is tied for 21st place with a seven over par 74-77-151 while sophomore Mark Benevento, playing as an individual, is tied for 25th place with an eight over par 75-77-152.

The third and final round of the invitational will begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
