Alker, a junior business management major from San Diego, Calif. (Scripps Ranch HS), was one of 20 players honored on the first team and honorable mention squads.
Miami, Duke, and Florida State each placed two players on the AVCA All-East first team while North Carolina had two selection. Alker was joined by two other CAA players on the honorable mention team, Katy Buck of Towson and Natalia Skiba of Northeastern.
Alker enjoyed an outstanding season in which she also claimed All-CAA honors and was named to the All-Tournament team at the CAA Tournament as well as at the University of Pittsburgh and University of Maryland tournaments. She also was a two-time CAA Player of the Week. She also was an ESPN/College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-American nominee.
She started all 34 matches and saw action in all 125 sets during the season. She ranked sixth in the CAA in points per set at 3.73 and was among the Hens’ leaders in almost every category, tying for the lead in service aces (.26 per match), ranking second in hitting percentage (.219) and kills (3.06), and placing third in digs (3.07 per set) and blocks (.74 per set).
Alker posted 14 double-doubles (kills-digs) during the season and surpassed double figures for kills 10 times. Her best outing was a 24-kill, 21-dig effort at James Madison late in the season. She also posted 12 kills and 13 digs in the CAA semifinal win over James Madison and recorded 18 kills and 13 digs in the championship victory over VCU.
