HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- University of Delaware baseball sophomore Zach Lopes was recently honored by the Coastal Plain League as its Rawlings Hitter of the Week.

Lopes, a native of Wilmington, Del., had an outstanding week from the plate for the Peninsula Pilots, earning him Hitter of the Week honors for the first time this season.  The third baseman played in all five games for the team batting .455 over the stretch.  Lopes racked up five RBI on five hits with one double to help the Pilots to a 5-0 record on the week.

Lopes, who recently wrapped up his sophomore season for the Blue Hens, hit .306 with 38 hits, 26 runs, two home runs, two doubles and one triple in addition to 13 RBI during the 2013 collegiate year.
