RICHMOND, Va. – For the second-straight week the University of Delaware baseball team was honored by the Colonial Athletic Association Monday as Blue Hens starting pitcher Chad Kuhl (at right) was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week for his performance last week.

Kuhl, a junior right-handed pitcher from Middletown, Del. (Middletown HS), earned his fourth-straight win and ninth of the season in Delaware’s 6-1 victory at Northeastern on May 10.  He held the Huskies to one unearned run on eight hits, one walk and seven strikeouts in his second complete game of the season.

Kuhl is the third Blue Hen to garner a conference weekly honor and second UD pitcher to earn CAA pitcher of the week.  Matt Soren, a two-time CAA Pitcher of the Week selection this season, was named Tri-Pitcher of the Week last week.  First baseman Jimmy Yezzo was also named CAA Player of the Week on Mar. 25.

Through 13 starts this season, Kuhl is 9-2 with a 3.20 earned-run average (34 earned runs in 95.2 innings pitched) and 73 strikeouts while holding the opposition to a .263 batting average.

Joining Kuhl with CAA weekly honors is James Madison’s Colby Roberts, who was named Player of the Week.  Northeastern’s Michael Foster and Georgia State’s Matt Rose shared CAA Co-Rookie of the Week honors.

Delaware (31-19), which has qualified for the 2013 CAA Baseball Championships for the second-straight season, will be battling for post-season positioning during the final weekend of the season against James Madison.

The Blue Hens will host the Dukes beginning Thursday, May 16, at 3 p.m. at Bob Hannah Stadium.
