NEWARK, Del. -- The University of Delaware baseball team's home opener set for Friday, Feb. 28, vs. Fordham, was postponed due to weather forecasts of below-freezing temperatures.

The game will now be played as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, March 1, beginning at 12 noon. Game one will be a nine-inning matchup with the nightcap scheduled for seven innings. There will be a 30-minute break between games.

The games will still be played at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Md., due to weather-related delays to renovations at Bob Hannah Stadium on campus.

Delaware (3-4) and Fordham (1-2) will close out their three-game set Sunday, March 2, at 1 pm at Harford CC.

Delaware will go with Dan Gatto (1-1, 2.03 ERA) on the mound in the first game with Brandon Hinkle (1-1, 5.84) scheduled for the second game. Chad Martin (1-0, 2.25 ERA) is scheduled to go in Sunday's game.

Fordham will go with Brett Kennedy (0-1, 5.79 ERA) in the opener Saturday and J.C. Porter (0-0) in the nightcap. The Rams have tabbed Tim Swatek (0-1, 16.88) as the starter on Sunday.

Delaware is looking to extend a two-game winning streak after wins last Sunday over Manhattan and Campbell at the Campbell Tournament.

Fordham competed at the Wofford Tournament last weekend and lost games against Wofford and Presbyterian before finishing with a 9-2 win over Pittsburgh in the finale.
