BEL AIR, Md.  -- The University of Delaware baseball squad will be looking to push its early season record to the .500 mark this weekend as the Blue Hens begin a three-game non-league set with Fairfield University on Friday, March 14, at 3 p.m. at Harford Community College.

The teams will meet for three games with Friday’s matchup followed by single games on Saturday and Sunday, both at 1 p.m. Delaware home games continue to be played at Harford CC while extensive renovations at Bob Hannah Stadium that have been delayed due to the severe winter weather are completed.

Delaware (6-8) has won two of its last three games and is coming off a 10-1 setback at Maryland on Tuesday. Last weekend the Blue Hens took two of three from Rider at Harford CC, outscoring the Broncs 23-9 over the three games. Fairfield (3-5) has lost two of three in each of its last two series at Richmond and most recently at George Mason last weekend.

The teams will meet for the first time since 2012 when Delaware took three out of four during a weekend set at Bob Hannah Stadium. After dropping the opener 4-1, the Hens came back with wins of 4-1, 10-4, and 4-3 over the Stags.

Delaware senior righthander Dan Gatto (2-2, 2.33 ERA) will take the mound on Friday for the Blue Hens to face Fairfield’s Mike Wallace (0-2, 7.63). On Saturday, the Hens will send lefty Brandon Hinkle (2-1, 4.81 ERA) to the mound to face EJ Ashworth (1-1, 3.31 ERA). Sunday’s pitching matchups will be announced later.

The Blue Hens are led offensively by right fielder Norm Donkin (.365, team-high six doubles and eight RBIs) and third baseman EJ Stoltzfus (.327, 5 RBIs) while Fairfield counters with Jake Salpietro (.355, 3 RBIs) and Billy Zolga (.304, 3 RBIs).
