NEWARK, Del. -- Former University of Delaware men’s basketball standouts Jamelle Hagins, Devon Saddler and Davon Usher are looking to earn the opportunity to compete in the upcoming NBA Summer League from July 11-21 in Las Vegas.

Hagins and Saddler are participating in the Philadelphia 76ers’ pre-summer league minicamp this week, while Usher has been invited to tryout with the Golden State Warriors. Hagins has a guaranteed spot in the league which will be held at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV, while Saddler and Usher will also attempt to earn spots with their respective teams.

Hagins was a four-year performer for the Blue Hens from 2009-13, finishing his career as UD’s career leader with 1,078 rebounds, 292 blocks and 124 games played. He was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, while he also earned second team All-CAA honors.

Hagins began his professional career last summer when he played nine games with Chorale Roanne Basket in France, before averaging eight points and six rebounds for the Rio Grande Vipers of the NBA D-League.

Saddler and Usher both led the Blue Hens to an outstanding 2013-14 season in which Delaware went 25-10 and won the CAA Tournament title for the first time in school history.

Saddler set the UD record by scoring 2,222 career points, earning first team All-Conference and All-District honors as a senior while ranking second in the league with 19.7 points per game. He was also fourth in the CAA with 3.6 assists per game, surpassed the 20-point mark 15 times, and was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team.

Usher enjoyed a sensational year during his lone season in Newark, setting a Blue Hen single season record by scoring 679 points. Also a first team All-CAA and All-District pick, Usher tied for the team lead with 85 three-pointers made while ranking second on the squad with 6.1 rebounds, 62 assists and 62 steals.
