RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware senior Kelsey Buchanan was honored once again Monday as the center was named a Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week.

Buchanan eclipsed the 30-point mark for the first time in her career after putting up 33 points on 10-of-24 shooting from the floor and 13 free throws in the Blue Hens’ 85-71 victory over the College of Charleston Friday afternoon.  The South Riding, Va. native added 12 rebounds in the contest for her seventh double double of the season.

In Sunday’s win over Towson, Buchanan led Delaware (16-6, 8-3 CAA) with 15 points and nine rebounds.

For the week, Buchanan averaged a double double of 24 points and 10.5 rebounds in 38 minutes of action per game.

Buchanan has scored in double figures in all 22 games for the Hens this season and averages 18.8 points, 8.7 points and 0.9 blocks per game to lead Delaware.  She has collected CAA honors four times throughout her senior campaign.

Buchanan shares this week’s honors with Northeastern’s Samantha DeFreese.  Jasmine Carter earned Rookie of the Week accolades for the College of Charleston.

The Blue Hens have a busy week with CAA action as Delaware takes on Drexel at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Philadelphia before hosting conference leader James Madison at 7 p.m. Thursday.  The Hens wrap up the week by hosting William & Mary at noon Sunday for Senior Day.
