NEWARK, Del. – Former University of Delaware women’s basketball standout Elena Delle Donne will return to her old stomping grounds this evening as a member of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky in a preseason exhibition contest against the Washington Mystics.

Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Bob Carpenter Center.  Limited tickets remain for the game.

Delle Donne, a Wilmington, Del. native, began her esteemed career with the Blue Hens in 2009 where she became one of the most successful student-athletes in the school’s history. She was awarded the Senior CLASS Award and Honda Award in 2013 while earning First Team All-American honors and being a candidate for the National Player of the Year in her junior and senior seasons.

Drafted by the Sky as the second overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, Delle Donne was a unanimous selection for the Rookie of the Year.

Chicago is currently 1-1 in preseason play and looks to closeout the exhibition season with a win and regain momentum heading into Friday’s regular season opener.  Delle Donne has averaged 10.5 points per game in the two exhibition games this May.
