Lauren Baker, a native of Bethlehem, Pa., begins her second year with the University of Delaware after being named the assistant director of athletics marketing in September, 2012.
Baker will work closely with UD Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Promotions Kristy Fletcher and will be the primary contact for volleyball in the fall. Her primary winter responsibilities will be with men’s basketball with men's lacrosse her primary emphasis during the spring season.
Her work will include developing and executing marketing plans, working with UD Ticket Operations to spearhead group sales initiatives, manage the Athletics Marketing student work force, and implement community athletic initiatives.
"I'm humbled and honored to be returning to my Blue Hen roots as assistant director of athletics marketing,” said Baker. “The student body and the passion of the UD community is what excites me about returning to the university that taught me so well. I hope to carry on the traditions that I experienced as well as create new traditions and experiences for our fans."
Baker served as the football and basketball game day administrator at Lehigh University from 2011 until 2012 where she assisted the Mountain Hawk Athletics Department. She was responsible for the coordination of music, public address announcing, media outlets, and student spirit groups.
She was a Dean’s list student at Delaware and earned her degree in sport management with a minor in business in May, 2011.
While at Delaware, Baker was a member of the UD Sport Marketing Student Team. Her responsibilities included assisting the Athletics Marketing Department at athletic events by implementing corporate sponsorship promotions and enhancing the game day atmosphere for seven NCAA Division I athletics programs.
She was also responsible for assisting the department with the coordination of video board content, public address announcing, and media outlets for select football home games.
Baker was also active volunteering her time in the University of Delaware and Newark communities with Colleges Against Cancer and Relay For Life. She was also a member of the national leadership honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa.
Her past experience also includes internships with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies; Comcast-Spectacor, the Philadelphia-based sports and entertainment firm; and the National Football League's Philadelphia Eagles.
