NEWARK, Del.  -- The University of Delaware men’s lacrosse squad, riding a current four-game win streak following a last-second 10-9 win over Binghamton last Saturday, received votes in two of the three national lacrosse Top 20 polls announced Monday.

The Blue Hens (5-2), whose win streak is the longest since the 2010 NCAA Tournament-qualifying team won five straight, received votes in both the Warrior media poll as well as in the Lacrosse Magazine poll. Delaware did not receive votes in the USILA coaches rankings.

Delaware will face a big test this Saturday, March 15,  when the Hens travel to Hempstead, N.Y. to take on Hofstra at 3 p.m. at Shuart Stadium in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams. Hofstra (3-2) is ranked No. 17 by Lacrosse Magazine, No. 18 by Warrior, and is receiving votes in the USILA rankings.

The Hens will be looking to open CAA play on a positive note and avenge a 10-5 setback at home last season to the Pride. The Hens are led offensively by junior Brian Kormondy, who scored the game-winner with one second left vs. Binghamton, and this week’s CAA Rookie of the Week Logan Aunon. Both have scored 10 goals this season.  Delaware will be playing without the services of starting midfielder Connor McRoy and starting defender Brandon Worrall who are both out for the year with injuries.

Maryland topped the Warrior poll and received 22 first place votes. The Terps are followed by Loyola (1), Johns Hopkins, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Penn State, Cornell, Denver, Syracuse, Penn, Notre Dame, Albany, Lehigh,  UMass, Princeton, Yale, Hofstra, Colgate, and Bryant. Joining Delaware in the list of others receiving votes were Drexel, Fairfield, Brown, Rutgers, Towson, Harvard, Army, and St. John’s.
