Shannon Marie Hawley • born January 29, 1994 • daughter of Carl and Sharon Hawley • has an older sister, Colby, and a younger sister, Caitlin • majoring in English with a minor in journalism with the goal of becoming a journalist for a magazine or newspaper • cites former teammate Caitlin McCartney as the biggest influence on her as an athlete because she is a competitive and very talented athlete • chose Delaware because she feels the lacrosse program is amazing and the education offered is great • began playing lacrosse at age 11 • had her front tooth knocked out while playing indoor lacrosse when younger • uncles, John, Dave and Jeff Desko, and cousin, Tim Desko, all played lacrosse collegiately • enjoys writing, road trips and hanging out with friends • figure skated competitively for numerous years • active in several community service projects.
