RICHMOND, Va. – In the past two games, the University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team outscored opponents, 33-12, and both the sides of the field were honored Monday by the Colonial Athletic Association as Casey Lyons (Georgetown, Ontario, Canada) was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Tori Zorovich (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Lyons earned CAA accolades for the second consecutive week while Zorovich was recognized for her on-field performance for the first time in her career.

In wins over Virginia Tech (17-3) and Temple (16-9), Lyons combined for 13 points off of seven goals and six assists.  The sophomore has tallied at least five points in four straight games, a feat that has not been accomplished when Karen Emas posted at least seven points in five straight games for the 1983 National Champion Blue Hens.

Lyons leads Delaware and is 17th nationally with 33 points on a league-leading 22 goals and 11 assists and has scored at least one point in all eight games played this season.

Zorovich tallied two wins in 118:10 minutes of play with 16 saves while allowing just 12 goals.  The senior held the Hokies scoreless in the second half of play Wednesday, the first time UD held an opponent without a goal for a half since 2007.

Zorovich is 4-0 on the season with 32 saves and 7.88 goals allowed per game.

Towson’s Gabby Cha earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.

The Hens host Monmouth at 6 p.m. this Wednesday at Delaware Stadium and will honor their seven seniors as a part of Senior Night ceremonies.  Delaware continues play Saturday with a 1 p.m. draw at George Washington.
