RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore Casey Lyons was recognized Monday by the Colonial Athletic Association as a Co-Offensive Player of the Week following two outstanding games for the University of Delaware women’s lacrosse team.

Lyons turned in back-to-back five-goal games as the Blue Hens earned victories over La Salle (18-7) and Villanova (11-8) last week.  It was the first time since the 2004 season that a Delaware player recorded at least five goals in consecutive contests.

Furthermore, the Georgetown, Ontario, Canada native also tallied two assists against the Explorers to complete a 12-point week.  Lyons’ seven points versus La Salle tied a Delaware Stadium record.

Through six games this season, Lyons has been impressive in her first year with the Blue Hens as she leads the team with 20 points on 15 goals and five assists.  She has also posted two of Delaware’s three game-winning goals.  Lyons is also third in the conference with 2.5 goals per contest.

Lyons shared this week’s honors with Hofstra’s Brittain Altomare.  Hannah Verschoore (James Madison) was named the Defensive Player of the Week while Tiana Parrella (Hofstra) earned Rookie of the Week accolades.

The Blue Hens (3-3) return to Delaware Stadium this Wednesday as they host Virginia Tech at 5 p.m. before traveling to Philadelphia to take on Temple at 1 p.m. Saturday.
