RICHMOND, Va. – Blue Hen freshman forward Natalie Zelenky of the University of Delaware women's soccer team earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week honors as announced in a league release Monday.

Zelenky takes home her first CAA weekly honor for her impressive performance in the Blue Hens’ home-opener Friday, Sept. 6 against Loyola (Md.). The freshman contributed a goal and an assist in Delaware’s 2-1 overtime victory over the Greyhounds. Zelenky scored her first collegiate goal in the 12th minute of the contest then provided a helper on Shannon Kearney’s game-winning tally in overtime.

The multi-point performance is the first by a Blue Hen this season. Zelenky is currently the only Delaware rookie who has registered a point and an assist throughout the first five games of the season.

"I am very excited that Natalie was chose as Rookie of the Week. She has been consistent and hard working. I'm sure this is only a small part of what we will see from her in the future."
- Head Coach Scott Grzenda

Delaware returns the pitch Friday, Sept. 13 against St. Francis (Pa.) at Delaware Mini-Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free.
