TOWSON, Md. – The University of Delaware women's soccer team earned its first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) contest 1-0 Thursday afternoon at the Towson soccer complex. The Blue Hens have now won five consecutive matches shutting out its opponents three times in the five game stretch.

Delaware scored the only goal of the match in the 8th minute of the first half. Midfielder Andrea Arnold slipped a shot passed Towson keeper to register her second goal of the season. Senior tri-captain Shannon Kearney centered a pass to Arnold to notch the only assist on the score. The assist is the fifth of the year for Kearney. The forward has now tallied a point in Delaware's previous five matches.

Senior goalkeeper Jessica Levy started in goal for the Blue Hens stopping all six shots she faced. In today's contest Levy registered her third shutout of the season. The senior now owns a 0.77 goals against average with a 6-3-0 record.

"The girls played a very strong game this afternoon," said Delaware head coach Scott Grzenda. "We created many great opportunities but failed to finish them off. Their goalie was the best we've seen this season and was extremely hard to beat. It was great to see Shannon and Andi step up early in the game and put one away, as everyone knows its so important to get that first conference win."

Delaware now owns a 6-4 overall record with a perfect 1-0 league record. Towson falls to 5-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the CAA.
