Delaware Women's Soccer Owns Six Game Win-Streak After 3-0 Victory at George Mason
FAIRFAX, Va. – The University of Delaware women's soccer team earned its sixth straight win Sunday afternoon after a 3-0 victory at George Mason Stadium. Senior forward Chelsea Duffy led the Blue Hens with her first multi-goal performance of the season.
Duffy scored her first goal of the game and the first Blue Hen goal in the 41st minute of the first half after a pass from sophomore midfielder Elisa Krause. The assist is the first of the season for Krause. Duffy tallied her second goal with 13:06 remaining in the match. Duffy's second goal was scored on a perfectly executed penalty kick.
Delaware's second goal was scored by sophomore midfielder Allison Slark in the 49th minute of play. Senior tri-captain Dianna Marinaro registered the only assist on Slark's first goal of the year.
Junior goalkeeper Jess Figueroa earned her first win and shutout of the season at Mason. Figueroa stopped all three shots she faced. The Delaware goalkeeping unit has now combined for four shutouts in 11 games.
"I'm extremely proud of the team today," said Delaware head coach Scott Grzenda. "We kept a clean sheet today and were able to finish off a quality opponent.
