Tim Ford joined the University of Delaware athletics staff as senior associate athletics director and director of development for athletics in April, 2013.
“We are excited to add Tim to the University of Delaware Athletics family,” said then Delaware Director of Athletics and Recreation Services Eric Ziady in making the announcement. “Tim has vast experience in the field of athletics development and is well-respected throughout the industry. Not only is he a tremendous fundraiser, but he has extensive experience in all levels of external operations and program administration. I spoke to a number of collegiate coaches and administrators that I know and they were unanimous in their praise for Tim and the impact he will have on UD Athletics.”

At Delaware, Ford is a member of the senior management team and has oversight of Athletic Development, Alumni Relations, and Special Events. He is responsible for the management and daily operations of all development efforts including major/capital giving, scholarship/endowment, annual fund and special events for all 21 Delaware teams.
He also serves as sport administrator for men's lacrosse, women’s soccer, and men’s golf.
He previously was a senior associate athletic director at Yale University where he was a member of the senior management team and oversaw marketing, ticket operations, community outreach, and development. He also served as sport administrator for football, men’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, and men’s and women’s squash.
Over a 10-year period, he led fundraising efforts that resulted in $109 million raised including $84 million for the Yale Tomorrow Campaign. Highlights included several new coaching and programmatic endowments as well as renovations to the Yale Bowl, Ingalls Rink, Reese Stadium, and Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
He also served in a number of positions at Yale including assistant director for intramurals and Payne Whitney Gymnasium operations, assistant athletic director for marketing and community outreach, director of athletic development, and associate athletic director.
He also worked for the Albany-Colonie Yankees as well as the Stanford University and Springfield College athletic departments prior to Yale.
He is a current member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Board of Directors and chair of the ECAC Marketing Committee and is a past member of the NCAA Division I Football Issues Committee.
He is a graduate of Siena College and received his master’s degree in sports management from Springfield College.
He completed the Division I AD Institute in 2010 and is also a graduate of the Sports Management Institute in 2005. His industry memberships include the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the National Association of Athletics Development Directors (NAADD).
He also served as board member for the Farnam Neighborhood House and Squash Haven organizations in New Haven, Conn.
Ford and his wife, Karie, have 13-year old twins, Katie and Jack.
