Tony Goldston is in his 17th season at the University of Delaware after joining the Blue Hens in August 1999.

He was promoted to the position of assistant athletics director for recreation programs in January, 2017.

In April 2013, Goldston’s responsibilities increased to include facility operations in making the newly remodeled Carpenter Sports Building run smoothly.

Goldston manages a robust and comprehensive intramural program with over 25 events per year. Additionally, he is responsible for recruiting, training and evaluating more than 130 student employees, who serve as officials, supervisors and office assistants.

Goldston works with tracking participation, budgets and student needs for various committees and Board of Trustee meetings in addition to developing and administering disciplinary policies for program participants.

Over his tenure at UD, there has been over a 135 percent increase in yearly student intramural participation.

Goldston also works with the Delaware student body as he teaches two sections of Officiating Rec Sports classes per year.

He began his career at Delaware as the assistant director of club sports, where he was in charge of scheduling facility usage for varsity athletic fields and over 32 club teams.

Prior to arriving at Delaware, Goldston spent nearly two years at North Carolina Wesleyan College, where he served as the coordinator of student development and director of campus recreation.

In addition to working with UD recreation services, Goldston assists with the Blue Hens cheerleading squads.

Goldston graduated in 1994 with a degree in physical education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He earned his master’s degree in recreation from Western Kentucky University in 1997.

A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., Goldston and his wife, Julie, have two children, AJ and Andrew.
