Lara Andrews, a three-year letterwinner with the Blue Hens who graduated from UD in May, 2013, begins her second season with the University of Delaware softball staff during the 2015 campaign as a volunteer assistant.

Andrews, a native of Wellington, New Zealand, earned her degree in Human Services from Delaware after playing three years on the softball team. She will graduate with a Masters Degree in Human Services and Family Studies this spring.

Andrews is currently a member of the Pennsylvania Rebellion in National Pro Fastpitch and will begin her second season with the team this upcoming summer. Last year she became the first New Zealand native to play in the United States professional league during her first season in 2014.

Additionally Andrews is currently the captain of the New Zealand Women's National Softball Team, which was ranked among the top eight at the World Championships held in August, 2014.

Andrews started all 169 games during her Blue Hen career from 2011-13, playing her first two years in centerfield before moving to third base as a senior.

A three-year team captain, Andrews earned UD Alumni Association Team MVP honors during her sophomore and senior years, and was named to the CAA All-Tournament Team in both seasons as well. Additionally, Andrews was selected the 2013 UD Team Defensive MVP and was named to the CAA Academic Honor Roll during all three seasons at Delaware.

Andrews led the Blue Hens with 27 walks and was second with a .298 batting average during her first year in Newark in 2011, while she paced the squad with 21 RBI as a junior. As a senior she batted .313 for Delaware, tying for the team lead with 28 RBI and four home runs while ranking second with 57 hits, 29 runs scored and 11 doubles.

Andrews, who helped lead the Blue Hens to the CAA Tournament during each of her three seasons, ranks fifth in UD history with nine home runs, ninth with 25 doubles, 10th with 68 RBI, and 15th with 133 hits.
