Sport Assignments: Men's Lacrosse, Men's & Women's Tennis, Delaware Field House
Nicole "Nikki" Lounsberry joined the University of Delaware athletics staff in January 2014 as as an assistant athletic trainer for the Blue Hens. She was promoted to associate athletic trainer in June 2016.
At Delaware, she works primarily with the men's lacrosse and men's and women's tennis teams while covering the Delaware Field House.
A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Lounsberry came to Delaware after serving the previous three years at Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Ky. She joined the KSU staff in 2011 as an assistant with primary responsibilities with women's volleyball, cross country, men's and women's basketball, and softball.
She was promoted to head athletic trainer in 2012 and worked with the football, baseball, and men's and women's track & field programs. While at KSU, she also served as an adjunct professor, teaching classes in athletic training and physical education.
Prior to her time at Kentucky State, Lounsberry served as an undergraduate athletic trainer for two years at North Florida in 2006-08, as a graduate assistant athletic trainer and teaching assistant at the University of Kentucky in 2008-10, and as head athletic trainer at Tates Creek High School in Lexington, Ky. during the 2010-11 athletics season.
She earned her bachelor's degree with honors in athletic training from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. in 2008 and her master's degree in athletic training from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. in 2010.
She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and is a certified CPR instructor with the American Heart Association.
Lounsberry has also been an active volunteer with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps over the last decade.
