CAA Recognizes Lizzie Duffey as Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware women’s lacrosse sophomore Lizzie Duffey (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) was named Monday by the Colonial Athletic Association as its Defensive Player of the Week.
In huge CAA wins over Drexel and Hofstra, Duffey combined for five groundballs, five caused turnovers and four draw controls in addition to tallying one goal against the Dragons. The midfielder registered a game- and career-high five groundballs in addition to causing three Pride turnovers for the Blue Hens (9-4, 2-1 CAA) in their come-from-behind 8-7 victory at HU.
Duffey competed against a familiar face in Friday’s 12-5 victory against Drexel as her twin sister, Emily, plays for the Dragons.
Through 13 games played this season, Duffey is second for the Hens with 20 caused turnovers and tied for third on the team with 21 groundballs.
James Madison junior Stephanie Finley collected CAA Player of the Week honors while Towson freshman Gabby Cha was named the CAA Rookie of the Week.
UD conclude CAA action this weekend at Delaware Stadium as the Blue Hens host James Madison this Friday at 5 p.m. for the One Love Foundation Domestic Violence Awareness Game followed by a 1 p.m. draw against William & Mary Sunday.
