REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. -- The Blue Hen women’s golf team closed out its 2016 fall season by finishing in second place at the Delaware Invitational this weekend at Rehoboth Beach Country Club.

Delaware fired a 305 score during Sunday’s final round, tying for the low round of the day with Seton Hall, to place second out of 10 squads with a three-round total of 930. Harvard captured the team title for the second consecutive year with a 920 score for the weekend.

UD senior Vitoria Teixeira enjoyed the best round of the day by a Blue Hen, as she carded a two over par 73 on the par 71, 6,008-yard RBCC course, finishing in a tie for second place with a 15 over par 78-77-73-228. Anna Zhou of Harvard earned medalist honors with a 10 over par 223, while Ashleigh Greenham of Rutgers and Teixeira each finished five shots back.

Delaware freshman Ariane Klotz carded a four over par 77 during her final round of the invitational, as she finished in seventh place at 72-81-77-230, 17 over par. Ashley Dingman tied for 17th place for the Blue Hens with a 25 over par score of 78-78-82-238.

Valentina Mueller fired a four over par 75 on Sunday, as she tied for 21st place with a 26 over par 80-84-75-239, while Grace Chua recorded a 28 over par 80-81-80-241 during the weekend to finish in 25th place.

Five Blue Hens competed in the tournament as individuals, led by Josefina Fernandez-Davila who tied for 36th place with a 34 over par 84-83-80-247. Isabella Rimton finished in 39th place with a 35 over par 82-85-81-248, while Aashaka Desai carded a 37 over par 84-79-87-250 as she tied for 40th place. Kylie Greulich placed 48th with her 48 over par score of 88-87-86-261, while Marie Bogenez tied for 49th place with a 49 over par 87-88-87-262.

“It was a great tournament,” said Blue Hen head coach Patty Post. “We want to give a big thank you to Rehoboth Beach Country Club and its members and staff for hosting our event! They always treat us like tour players. Our Blue Hens played solid golf today and I am very proud of their efforts!”
