WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The University of Delaware men’s golf team will open its 2017 spring season Sunday through Tuesday when the Blue Hens compete in the Kingsmill Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary.

The invitational features 23 teams and will take place on the par 70, 6,778-yard River Course at Kingsmill Resort. The 54-hole tournament will feature single rounds on all three days, with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, and 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

The Blue Hens, led by 16th-year head coach Mike Keogh, are coming off a successful fall season in which Delaware captured the Colgate/Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational team title and post two other top-four finishes.

Marc Oliveri averaged a team-best 72.00 shots per round during the five fall tournaments and was the medalist at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial, while Jack Gianniny posted a 72.17 average round to go with a team-high three top-10 finishes. Blaine Lafferty averaged 72.25 shots per round for the Blue Hens, while Kieran Purcell (73.75) and Mark Benevento (74.58) also competed in all five fall invitationals.

Following the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, Delaware will compete in the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa. on Mar. 27-28. After participating in The Manor Intercollegiate at The Manor Golf Course in Farmville, Va. on Apr. 1-2, before competing in the Finegan Invitational at Whitemarsh Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pa. on Apr. 10. Following an appearance in the Rhode Island Invitational at Quidnessett Country Club in Naragansett, R.I. on Apr. 17-18, the Blue Hens conclude the season at the CAA Championship at Salisbury Country Club in Midlothian, Va. on Apr. 21-23.
